We are looking at a flyer about Protect the Water
Expose the Myth of the Flambeau Mine:
I work in education in the schools and need to teach the many parameters of mining. Please tell me why you would not expose the fact that the Flambeau Mine was a mine for gold, silver and copper. And the Flambeau Mine also was the reason for the mining moratorium in WI. We know the horrible pollution there. We know the dangers of Bill AB 426.
But do we also need to tell the people that the “ore” mining can very well turn into big stakes mining once again only a stepping stone to gold, silver and copper once again.
Please why was the flyer misleading in that direction?
It is explicity on other pages that the mine supplied both Copper, gold and silver, but Copper would have been the main commodity. Check this other page for example. I don’t quite see what the problem is if there was a bit of gold and silver extracted as well as heaps of copper which was the main product?
The mine produced approximately 181,000 tons of marketable copper, 334,000 ounces of gold, and 3.3 million ounces of silver.
